Revelation Trail

Western Horror / Drama | 1h 30m | 2013

Revelation Trail was my feature film directorial debut.  I had previously written and shot many shorts, but this was the first time leading a crew of 25, and at times having a cast of 200.

Production took place over three weeks in Summer and Winter of 2011, with a production budget of around $35,000.  Approximately $10,000 of that was raised through Kickstarter.

A story of how a preacher and a lawman must navigate a changing frontier (of the undead), Revelation Trail  was distributed in North America in 2013   by eOne Entertainment.

Starring

Daniel Van Thomas, Daniel Britt, Jordan Elizabeth, Bob Valentine

Half Finished

Drama | 33m | 2017

Half Finished was inspired, loosely, by the sudden loss of my own father in 2012.  My brother and I were sorting through items in his shed, and came across several of his projects that he'd been working on around the house and yard. My brother commented that now, none of us knew what these were going to be. They were going to be half finished forever.  And from that, the idea was stuck, waiting to be turned into a film.

The story of Half Finished was masterfully executed by a small cast and crew, and every audience this screened for connected with the themes of loss, regret, acceptance and healing.

Starring

Charlie Roetting, Paul Morris, Amber Potter, Kara Rae Robinson

When A Person Reaches Out

Documentary | 21m | 2021

I led two crews of students to create two documentaries about the opioid epidemic in rural Northern Kentucky (specifically, Owen and Carroll Counties). This was a grant funded project that was intended to bring attention to not only the epidemic itself, but also the work being done by Northern Kentucky University and on the ground volunteers to combat the challenges posed by addiction.

This project was incredibly impactful, not just on the students who worked on it and myself, but also because I was told that a many referrals were received because of these videos -- and even one referral would have made the project worth it.

OutSCIder Classroom

Educational | 7m | 2023

I have been one of the lead editors on OutSCIder Classroom, a grant funded  project created by Chris Anderson, a science educator and instructional coach in Hamilton County, OH.

Chris uses this program to teach middle school students (and beyond) about science (utilizing national science standards), using our National Park System as a backdrop.

In addition to editing, I also create animations and graphics to support the program, and occassionaly shoot in the field (including Mammoth Cave and Indiana Dunes).

Chris Anderson, Various Guests

England/Scotland 2022

Promotional | 7m | 2022

In Summer 2022 I co-led 25 students across England and Scotland on a two week study abroad program. Along the way, in addition to field experiences and field lectures, I documented the program so that I could create a video to be used for future promotion of the program.

Shot on Location:

London, Bath, Lyme Regis, Edinburgh, Fort William, Scone

Various Stop Motion Projects

Stop Motion | 4m | 2019

Creating stop motion projects in middle school is what got me interested in film as a hobby. This was a hobby that ultimately turned into a career through a few twists and turns. So, stop motion is where I still find myself gravitating back to when I have time.

It's fun, it's tedious, it's a labor of love. And, from time to time, it gives me an excuse to play with toys (which is exactly what the goal should be, right?). Recently, though, it has also given me a cost effective way to practice my compositing and graphics skills, so my more recent projects (linked below) have given me more experience with removing backgrounds, compositing in special effects and using plate shots to create more complex action sequences.  This love for the craft has also led me to creating (and teaching) a stop motion course at Northern Kentucky University.
